PUST Fund

Remediation Assistance May Be Available Through State Fund

The Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Remediation, Upgrade and Closure Fund was established in 1997 within the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA), to be administered jointly with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).

The PUST Fund was created to provide financial assistance to eligible homeowners who have leaking underground petroleum storage tanks.

We’ll Help You Apply

ADS Environmental will help you apply for assistance from the PUST Fund. As a courtesy to our customers, ADS will complete the application for you and submit it to NJDEP. ADS does not charge you for this service. Note that NJDEP continues to accept new applications, and will record the date received and hold them until sufficient funds become available.

How Do I Know If I Am Eligible?

To be eligible for a PUST Fund grant, annual income cannot exceed $250,000; net worth cannot exceed $500,000 (excluding your primary residence, 401K, IRA & pension); and the work to be performed must be at your primary residence.

Final determination for qualifying, funding and eligibility is made by NJDEP and NJEDA, and not by ADS Environmental, Inc.

  • If the property is an investment property, the grant application must be submitted prior to work startup and a lien will be placed on the project site in the amount of the grant for five years. It must be repaid upon the sale of the project. The amount of the grant to be repaid is reduced by 25% each year, starting with year two. If the property is an investment property, the client must inform ADS about the grant application prior to work startup.
  • Estates are not eligible for the PUST Fund unless the liabilities of the estate exceed the assets.
